Stand up for Foster Kids

Join CASA of Cook County
May 8, 2009 at the James R Thompson Center
for a Forgotten Children event
Goal: $31,000 by June 30, 2009

National CASA

Every day, 850 children enter the foster care system in the US because they cannot live safely at home. That’s enough children to fill two elementary schools or 425 camp bunks. Enough children to field 70 soccer teams.

As a CASA volunteer or supporter, you understand the vital role CASA volunteers play in the lives of our nation’s most vulnerable abused and neglected children. Last year, 60,000 CASA volunteers served 240,000 children through 954 local programs nationwide. But with 500,000 children living in foster care, there simply aren’t enough CASA volunteers to go around.

In Cook County, there are 6,500 children in foster care. CASA of Cook County has enough volunteers to serve only 10% of those children.

By joining the Forgotten Children Campaign, you can help close the gap by raising money to put a trained, committed advocate into the life of a local child who needs a safe, permanent home.
